Mexico 3 - 1 Iran, Portugal 1 - 0 Angola
This group is turning out as expected: Totally predictable results. Portugal and Mexico totally outclassed the Angolans and the Iranians. However, it has been discussed that Mexico and not Portugal will take top honors in Group D.
On Sundays only the support staff in the call centre is at work and the rest of us are sitting at home. This bugged me out, since these game where played last Sunday, I did not have play-by-play commentry from my collegues. I sat and watched the Teevo'ed matches and for the first time this World Cup, had to listen to the commentators....
Not half the fun as listening to the chants of the Africans, or the cinical comments of the French or the jokes being cracked at the German Marketing Manager. He's taking a lot of slack because the Germans are hosting the cup.
On Monday, the Latin American guys in the casino whent on about the Mexico/ Iran game. Pepe, the short, stout Mexican native stopped my in the corridor. 'Did you see the game Rocky? We killed the Iranians. Bush's war against Iran would have been over already if they sent us in against those guys!" he practically shouted at me. "We are at war with Iraq, Pepe. Iran is the neighbours to Iraq." I said, trying to get past the over bearing data analyst. He kept following me toward my office and continued "Whatever. We were like weapons of mass destruction on them!" "Still Iraq, Pepe" He did not listen to a word.
